The Cocoon is an innovative redirection pulley designed for the special requirements of rope climbing techniques in tree care. Owing to its versatility, however, it can also be used in a number of other applications.
The Cocoon is tested and certified for personal protection equipment (PPE) in accordance with the European standard EN 12278.
For taking up load it can either be equipped with a certified loop runner or a certified rope sling. As to which types have been approved by the manufacturer, please see the operating manual.
Owing to the completely new design of the locking mechanism, no carabiners are needed. Loop runner or rope sling are clamped directly into the Cocoon body, and protected and secured by a round nut which may simply be tightened by hand (no tools needed!). Because the smooth surface of the sphere-like screw does not offer any contact surface, the Cocoon stays safely locked. The principle underpinning this locking mechanism has been acknowledged and protected by means of an independent patent, including additional priority claims.
The Cocoon is equipped with a friction ring and a safety ring. The former increases friction on the last turns of the thread to ensure that the nut sits absolutely tight. It also keeps dirt out. The latter stays visible as long as the nut is not screwed on tightly and acts as a warning to the user.
The Cocoon not only ‘cocoons’ the loop runner or rope sling but it also protects the double ball bearing of the pulley.

volgens mij word dit apperaatje geplaats in het footlocktouw wat je met het werplijntje omhoog getrokken hebt en dat dan als ankerpunt gebruikt. Volgens mij in Maastricht gezien met de klimkampioenschappen daar. Nol.
Daarvoor zou je het kunnen gebruiken, maar ja daarvoor zou je veel dingen kunnen gebruiken. Helaas weet niemand iets over dit coole geintje van €111,- Volgens mij is het gewoon een cool katrolletje wat je voor alle mogelijke katroldoeleinden kunt gebruiken. Het Design beschermt de rol tegen inwerking van buitenaf en je hebt geen Karabijnhaken meer nodig (Freeworker.de).
Ik gebruik nu sinds enkele weken de cocoon in mn cambiumsaver. Eerder klom ik met het harpje met kunststof wieltje. Deze was te beschadigd, dus ben ik op deze overgestapt. En ik moet zeggen, IDEAAL. vergeleken bijn de eerdere katrol.
Wel n beetje grof maar daarentegen ook stevig. En hij kost geen 111,- maar 70,- nog geen klkeion bedrag maar he veilig istie wel.
Het cocon-katrolletje is een verbetering van de Art Pulley: iets gestroomlijnder en het stropje zit al meteen aan de katrol. Zelf gebruik ik deze constructie nietL je hebt zoveel wrijving als de lijn langs een tak loopt, dat het verschil tussen pulley/cambiumsaver nauwelijks winst is.

De helft van de economische wetenschap is buitengewoon nuttig voor onze samenleving, maar niemand kan met zekerheid zeggen welke helft.
Is het eigenlijk mogelijk een dergelijke konstruktie van beneden in te bouwen? Mischien ben ik er te dom voor, maar als ik toch al eerst naar boven moet om mn cambium saver in te bouwen zie ik het nut er niet zo van in.
Je kan de Cocoon ook met een Klemheist aan je footlock lijn bevestigen en zo je anker in je Footlocklijn bevestigen. Vooral handig bij het redden van kollegas op de wedstrijden (bij bepaalde posities).
