Ring faillure Kong

Beste Treehuggers, ik denk dat wij hier even een haven moeten zijn voor een ander forum.
Twee sponsoren van dat forum laten een klimmer stikken en er mag van één van de eigenaren van het forum geen negatieve discussie plaatsvinden.

Dear Treehuggers, we probably have to be a safe haven for another forum. Two of their sponsors left a climber in the rain and one of the forum owners has made it clear there is no room on his forum for negative discussion.

http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/showflat. ... &vc=1&nt=2

This can possibly be the place where we can discus the Kong boycot.

Please continue this discussion in English.

Hello,
I am deeply concerned to read about the plight of Jay Butcher, the Arborist in America who has been seriously hurt by your faulty product (alloy ring) that was recalled.

I am surprised that you would want to be seen to be ignoring his claim for compensation which seems entirely reasonable.

I am an Arborist who climbs trees on a daily basis and I talk and communicate with others all over the world. I will be telling everyone I know about how this poor fellow has been treated by your company until I hear that you have settled the claim to his satisfaction.

Other companies who have not understood the power of the internet have learned too late and had terrible damage done to their valuable reputations. They learned that it is easier to settle early rather than have their reputation made dirty in a way that it is not easy to ever clean. I can give you examples if you think I am not speaking the truth.

I hope you people re-think and settle this matter urgently before hundreds and then thousands or more people learn about this.

state/country/adres

@Jay : hope this will make a difference and Kong wake up this way.
all the very best and hold on bro

There is some misunderstandig if kong is really responsible.
They sure shipped the rings but it seems that they didn't manufactured the ring that was broken. Nevertheless in my opinion Kong is still responsible for shipping and selling alu rings and when these ring fails they have to cope with the problem.

Waiting for some answers now and then we can see what we can do for Jay.

Here's Kongs answer :

http://www.kong.it/doc/KONG_alert_ago_2010.pdf

so get rid off all the unmarked rings in climbing systems !
do not use them anymore and I wonder who's selling them to te local dealers around the world.....they are responsible for putting lives in danger.

too bad the accident happened! but the sending of the messages has proven some use, he got 2000 dollars more out of it.

take the money and enjoy it, there's a lot of kong - gear for that amount 8)

oh ja het is sent en niet send!

Kong has delivered the goods to Sherrill...so the e-mail to Kong is not wrong !
Second off all they wont take any responsibility also because it happenend during a competition....materials are not guaranteed during a competition according to Kong....

In my opnion it's a lott of bullshit and a play of hide and seek. In this way all the unmarked climbing materials are suspicious and we can not claim anything when we break this unmarked gear even if we buy it from a wel known supllier...

I really want to know where the alu ring was made and who sold it to kong. Kong sure did sell it to sherrill - according the news and letters about this subject.

let's see what follows up.

All,

I have spoken a fair amount on this matter and against the direction of legal representation. We sincerely regret having sold rings supplied by Kong SPA of Italy, shipped by Kong and in Kong marked boxes. It is absolutely certain that we (as a reseller) were not alone.

To date SherrillTree has expended untold time and energy as well as dollars performing a recall and without any support or direction from the manufacturer (financial or otherwise). Their silence is truly stunning.

I too will soon try and contact the company's owner again to see where he wants this matter to end/begin.

Will be back.

Be safe
